Commercial Roof using Asphalt Shingles
Asphalt shingle roofs are very popular for residential houses because of price, durability, and longevity. That is why they are one of the most popular types of roofs, but can a commercial roof use asphalt shingles? Yes! A commercial roof can use asphalt shingles; while it’s not common for all commercial buildings to have them, it certainly isn’t unheard of.
Most times, when people think of asphalt shingles, it’s for pitched roofs where you can nail in a sheet at a time, but for most commercial buildings, the roofs tend to have less of an angle on them or be flat. In this case, we would typically use what is called bitumen. Bitumen is almost identical to the feel of your typical asphalt shingles, but it comes in more of a rolled format that can be laid out over the roof.
The benefits of a commercial roof using asphalt shingles are similar to those for residential homes. Asphalt is affordable, common, and readily available in large quantities. They tend to be easier to install than the other types of commercial roofs. A commercial roof using asphalt shingles also requires less maintenance than different types of commercial roofs; that doesn’t mean you don’t need to check on it. You still need to check regularly to make sure your commercial asphalt roof is working correctly and no problems are starting.
